December would be 6 years I’ve had her so I won’t mind seeing her around but I’m done riding her. I will be very picky where she goes
What she is:
Blondie is a grade 15 year old absolute “barrel mare”. Her nicknames include Dragon B****, Queen B… a picture of her famous mare face will explain everything about her. Push cows with her, go hit a jackpot and pull a 4D check, go out and give a lesson to a toddler. All the same week.
This mare and I have truly just lost our bond. I spent a total of 8 months with several different trainers, everyone I’ve seen out at a race or playday has told me the same thing. “That mare just doesn’t want to work with you,” and dang I know it. I’ve had friends of various levels hope on her and ride off without an arguement. Had friends pull her out of the pasture and lay dow a decent 4-5D time. (When not in shape) with me she runs straight at people In the warm up pen, then straight into barrels when Ive got us set up perfect every time
This is a STRONG MARE. I’ve gotten her to the point where when you’re all put together, she’ll walk in flat maybe a little pitter patter right before you send her. She may take off nice and seem automatic by this point like any good seasoned mare, but she’s push style. Not gunna lock-in if you’re not riding her.
With kids she has a switch. Like anything not adult sized she is just slow motion baby sitter. Bareback, saddled she’ll pick things up, I set my poles and barrels from her. She really is handy if 1. You can ride 2. She doesn’t hate you.
If you come try her and do something I don’t like pack it up. 6 years I know exactly where she needs to be and I’m not it anymore.
